How do you help when your heart is in one place... but your hands are in another?

That has been the question that has accompanied me since the earthquake in Venezuela occurred.

I cannot rebuild houses.

I cannot give back everything that so many families lost.

But I can use the talent that God put in my hands.

For more than 16 years, I have baked to celebrate birthdays, weddings, graduations and family gatherings.

Today...

I'm baking Esperanza/HOPE. 🇻🇪🤍

Each Hope Cookie is born with a much greater purpose than being a dessert.
❤️ 50% of the proceeds will go towards the purchase of humanitarian aid supplies for the affected families in Venezuela.

The other 50% allows to cover the ingredients, packaging, commissions, taxes and other costs so that this initiative can continue to grow and we can continue to send aid with each new batch.

Les presento nuestra Hope Cookie, una edición especial de galletas de masa madre con chispas de chocolate, creada con un propósito mucho más grande que vender una galleta.

❤️ El 50% de las ganancias de cada Hope Cookie será destinado a la compra de suministros de ayuda humanitaria para las familias afectadas por la crisis en Venezuela.

He estado pensando mucho en este versículo estos días.

A veces creemos que para hacer una diferencia necesitamos tener mucho dinero, una gran organización o recursos ilimitados.

Pero Dios nunca nos pide que demos lo que no tenemos.

Nos pide que pongamos al servicio de los demás aquello que sí nos ha confiado.

Algunos tienen el don de enseñar.

Otros de consolar.

Otros de construir.

Otros de dar.

Otros simplemente tienen un corazón dispuesto a decir: "¿Cómo puedo ayudar?"

Esta semana he visto cómo personas de mi comunidad han compartido ropa, alimentos, agua, medicinas y productos de higiene para familias en Venezuela.

Y cada donación me recuerda que la gracia de Dios también se refleja cuando usamos nuestros dones para servir a otros.

No todos podemos hacerlo todo.

Pero todos podemos hacer algo.

Y cuando cada uno pone su don al servicio de los demás, Dios hace el resto.

Hay días en los que las palabras simplemente no alcanzan.

Desde ayer he llorado mucho. No solo por las imágenes que he visto, sino porque Venezuela sigue siendo mi hogar, aunque hoy viva lejos de ella.

Mi familia y mis amigos cercanos están bien, y doy gracias a Dios por eso. Pero mi corazón no deja de pensar en todas esas familias que hoy lo perdieron todo... en quienes siguen esperando noticias de un ser querido, en los niños, en los ancianos, en los rescatistas que luchan contra el tiempo con recursos limitados.

Me cuesta procesarlo.

Y en medio de tantas preguntas, una frase no deja de resonar en mi corazón:

"La esperanza no es creer que nada malo va a pasar. La esperanza es seguir encendiendo una luz, aun cuando alrededor parezca haber mucha oscuridad."

Hoy entiendo que esa luz puede ser una oración.

Puede ser una mano extendida.

Puede ser una caja de alimentos.

Puede ser una donación.

Puede ser simplemente decidir no ser indiferentes.

Desde @vickyssweetness y @essentially.dio siempre he creído que las cosas más sencillas, hechas con amor, pueden transformar la vida de alguien. Hoy ese amor no está en un pan, un té o un producto de bienestar. Hoy ese amor se convierte en solidaridad con un pueblo que está sufriendo.

Sigo creyendo que Dios permanece cerca de los quebrantados de corazón.

Y sigo creyendo que, incluso en medio de tanta oscuridad, una sola luz puede inspirar a otra... y luego a otra... hasta iluminar el camino de alguien que hoy siente que lo perdió todo.

Venezuela, seguimos orando por ti.
